Athletics Release Taveras

Oakland released OF Willy Taveras and his $4 million contract. No tea, figured to pick up Taveras after he was designated by Oakland last week. The best Taveras can hope for at this point is to get on with a team for the league minimum.

Analysis:

His only fantasy claim to fame is in the stolen base department. Wherever he lands, he will have to fight for playing time in the OF and at best, he will only be an AL or NL option. However, stay tuned as we will continue to update his status.
