Upton, who is having an excellent season (.298, 25 HR, 77 RBI, 19 SB), shouldn’t miss more than one or two games with what was diagnosed as an elbow contusion. Great news.

Minnesota Twins first baseman Justin Morneau was out of the lineup for the second consecutive night after fouling a ball off his foot.

Morneau has played just 63 games this season, hitting a disappointing four home runs and knocking in 27 while batting .217. He simply hasn’t been the same guy since his July, 2010 concussion and has little fantasy value at this point in time.

Houston Astros’ pitcher Wandy Rodriguez is likely to clear waivers this week.

Rodriguez has a huge price tag which will ward discourage most teams, but if he gets traded to a contender he could post solid numbers down the stretch. Over his last three starts he’s 2-1 with an ERA of 0.90 and a WHIP of 1.05.

Ellsbury has sore back

08/20/2011 2:13 PM -

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury is dealing with a sore back after being hit with a pitch in the eighth inning of Friday night’s game.

If not for the fact that the team is already missing Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz, Terry Francona would probably give Ellsbury the day off. Ellsbury is having a top-five fantasy season, batting .313 with 22 HR, 79 RBI, 89 runs scored and 33 stolen bases.
