  1. Brian Benedict says:

Burnett and Abreu for Nolasco in standard 5×5 keeper where young players are much more valuable?

  2. Fred Zinkie says:

If young players are really valuable in your league then I would say no. In a one-year league, Abreu and Nolasco have similar value so exchanging them and adding Burnett would be good.
What is the size of your league? That makes a difference for this deal.
BTW – Post these types of questions in the forums and you will likely get more opinions on the answer!

  3. Norm Stevens says:

I’m in a auction draft league (12 teams)where we can protect up to 3 players every year with raises of $1,$3,$5 and this year I am keeping Longoria for $9, CC for $17 (no brainers), but my problem lies on who to keep between Granderson for $14 or Josh Johnson for $7. Any advice who be greatly appreciated.

  4. Fred Zinkie says:

I would keep Johnson. I don’t love the idea of keeping two pitchers but I like Johnson’s value better. Also, your team doesn’t have too many stars so it looks like you might be rebuilding a bit. Johnson has the best chance of still being a keeper for 2011 at his salary.

  5. Norm Stevens says:

Thanks Fred! I will be tageting Braun and Teixeira which historically go for around $40 each and then build from there. What do you think?

  6. Roy Schonberg says:

Hi-I’m in an 11 team 5×5 Roto(no NL West)& get 8 keepers. We have an expansion team joining so each team can keep 4 players upfront & could lose one.Once a player is taken I can keep my other 4 players.I’m definitely keeping ARod($30),Longoria($14)& Lester($14).Please help me with keepers 4-8 & their order.Do I keep Youk at $25(1b)& lock up my corners or keep Nelson Cruz($6)?I will surely lose one to expansion. So,Youk or Cruz at #4 & #5?
    6.Hanson $12
    7.Wieters $11
    8.J.Johnson $15
    9.Weeks $6
    Weaver,Soriano(Rays),Hughes all $10-JRivera-$7 & Adam Jones ($16)
Also- would you trade Josh Johnson($15) and Youkilis($25) for Braun($28)?
    Thanks,
    Roy

  7. Jeremy Tiermini says:

1B is deep this year…I would do the deal for Braun.

  8. Roy Schonberg says:

Thanks Jeremy. Do you believe keeping Lester and Cruz with my third and fourth pick are right? Is Lester as good as last year’s performance and is Cruz a fluke?

  9. Jeremy Tiermini says:

I am a believer in Lester and plan on keeping him in my league at $16…and a second year of Cruz, at $6, is a nice deal.

  10. Roy Schonberg says:

Thanks. Last two question please. Do you like Hanson at $12 better than Josh Johnson at $15 and would you keep Rickie Weeks at $6 over Wieters at $11?

    Thanks again,
    Roy

  11. Jeremy Tiermini says:

I think Hanson and Johnson can be the same guy…so the $3 is a nice savings. And I think you can get Weeks back closer to $6 than you can get Wieters at $11…Wieters, in most places, is rated as the 4th best catcher…if you let him go you won’t get him back at that price.

  12. Roy Schonberg says:

    Thanks again Jeremy

  13. Jeremy Tiermini says:

Glad to help, Roy! Check back for chat or for live advice if you have questions!

  14. Roy Schonberg says:

I’m in a 12 team 5×5 Roto $260 auction league(all teams but those in the NL West).I can keep 8 keepers and have been offered a trade. Please advise on my 8 keepers and the trade mentioned below.

    1.Longoria-$14
    2.ARod-$30
    3.Lester-$14
    4.N.Cruz-$6
    5.J.Johsnon-$15
    6.Wieters-$11
    7.Werth-$16
    8.Votto-$21
    Others:Heyward-$10,Weeks $6,Weaver$10

I have been offered Fielder($32) & Bechkam($14-will qualify at 2b/3b)for A-Rod. If I make this deal would you still keep Votto($21) or would you keep A-Rod,Votto& Longoria & not trade for Fielder?

  16. Fred Zinkie says:

If you think you can win the league this year, I think you should stand pat.
If you don’t think you can win the league this year, I think you should take the deal and not keep Johnson. I know that leaves you needing a lot of pitching on draft day but it leaves you with a great group of young hitters.
