A’s closer Andrew Bailey’s return to the mound appeared to be coming sooner rather than later, but he is still experiencing pain in his upper back and, as a result, was examined on Thursday. When asked about the possibility of a disabled list stint Wednesday, manager Bob Geren expressed belief that one wouldn’t be necessary. But when the question was posed again Thursday, the A’s skipper didn’t exactly rule it out, only saying the club would know more following the consultation.
