Brewers CF Carlos Gomez has been working with hitting coach Dale Sveum to refine his swing. Manager Ken Macha wants Gomez to hit more ground balls and less pop-ups so he can utilize his speed. “He’s got start grinding it out and whatever it takes to make some adjustments. The ability’s there,” Sveum said. “You’ve got to be able to make adjustments, because hitting .200 isn’t going to get it done.”
Analysis:
In deeper mixed leagues and NL-only leagues, Gomez is a sneaky choice as an OF. He certainly has speed and can steal you 30 bases if he plays all season. The question is whether he will produce enough to get it done. He is worth a flier in the end rounds of these deeper drafts.
