Phillies #4 SP J.A. Happ pitched 4 shutout innings in today’s Spring Training game against the Twins; he increased his scoreless streak this spring to 8 1-3 innings. “It was positive,” Happ said of his third outing of the spring. “I was able to keep the ball on the ground, I’m just going to keep working on it.”
Analysis:
Happ doesn’t have big strikeout potential and his 2009 opponents’ BABIP was .270, indicating his 2009 ERA of 2.93 is likely to go up this season. Talk him up so your opponents try and draft him, but he is really only a #7 SP in mixed leagues.
