Lilly Could Be Full Speed By Mid-April

Cubs SP Ted Lilly had “clean-out” surgery on his shoulder in November of 2009.  He should start throwing BP to live batters, the last major step before being ready to pitch in an exhibition game, by the end of the week.  Manager Lou Piniella said over the weekend that Lilly was ahead of schedule, making a return to the rotation around mid-April look possible.

Analysis:

Lilly has the potential to be a #4 SP for mixed leagues but, because of the injury, you can not draft him that way. He is a good gamble in the later rounds, especially if your league has DL spots.
