If Joe Nathan is in fact ruled out for the season, the Twins will look at all relievers and fifth starter candidate as possible closers. That includes Francisco Liriano.
Analysis:
Liriano strikes a lot of batters out and some people feel that closing would help to keep him healthy. That being said, he pitched very poorly with men on base last year, something you don’t want in the ninth inning. Jon Rauch is a more likely possibility.
