I click on the “Live Advice”, Monday 2-15 at 2058 hours and while it indicated that someone was online, a widow did not open for me to “chat”
Hi Terrance – thank you for letting us know. We had a couple small glitches with the system yesterday. It tested out find prior to actually putting it into action but didn’t work perfectly yesterday. We have been doing live advice for years so this shouldn’t be hard to fix. I’m sorry for the mix up.
For my last two keepers out of eight in a roto 5×5 13 team auction league I can keep Howie Kendrick at $15, Rich Harden at $7, and Clay Buchholz at $5…Which two of those three should I keep?
Hi Don – were you trying to ask this question on Live Advice last night? If you were, you need to click on the Live Advice button on the left side of this page when it says ONLINE. If you weren’t trying to use Live Advice, you need to use our Forums, located in the top toolbar.
But since you asked……I would keep Kendrick and Buchholz. To be honest, I don’t think any of the three are great values and if you sign up for Live Advice perhaps you could go through your full roster with one of our staff members and see if you have better options.
I’m in a keeper league and we can keep 11 players. Our total salary is $201. We have 25 players on our team: 10 pitchers/2 c, 2 1b, 2 2b, 2-3b, 2-ss, 5-Of We have 10 teams in our league. I’m drafting 3rd this year in each round.
Whom should I keep from the following? 1b C.Davis$4 , 1b D.Lee $8, ss A.Raimirez $10, C Napoli $1, C Soto $3, 3b/of Derosa $4, Of Dye$5, Of Quentin $25, Of C.Lee $25, Rp Fuentes, $1, Rp Bailey $8, P Penny $1, P Parra $1.
the only players i know I am keeping are 2b B.Phillips @ $7, SS Bartlett @ $20, P Halladay @ $25, Of Granderson @ $19… I like these 4 players , even though Bartlett is a little high, I think he will produce from the leadoff position.
Who should I keep and how many?
Thanks,!
I would keep
Halladay
Phillips
Soto
D. Lee
Napoli
Fuentes
Bailey
I would not keep Bartlett. I think his play will regress a bit this year and he isn’t worth $20. You have a low salary cap. If your cap was $300 I would consider it but not at $200. I also would not keep Granderson at that price. Your league setup places more value on IF than OF so you can spend one-tenth of your total budget on a non top ten OF like Granderson.
The one player I’m on the fence about is Ramirez. At $10, he is a decent deal – pretty borderline for your setup IMO.
Keeper league NL only Auction league 5×5. 25 players per team (15 hitters/10 pitchers) can keep 11 players for next season. I’m going in with Cantu ($3), Upton ($8), Montero ($1), Colby Ransum ($3), Ethier ($21), Coughlan ($9), Billingsley ($8), Cain ($8), Kershaw ($3), Wilson (Giants closer – $15). Two questions–for my 11th pick should I go with Homer Bailey ($3), David Freese ($3), Gaby Sanchez ($3), Hideki Kuroda ($15) or none of the above? Assuming I allocate $87 for pitching, what do you think of a philosophy of picking up 3 or 4 middle relievers (depending on your answer above) at ($1 each–guys like Angel Guzman, Sergio Romo, etc.) , putting $30-$35 toward a stud like Santana, and rounding it out with a mid level starter for about $10. Low on saves, but shouldn’t that give me a nice base for the other 4 categories?
I would keep Bailey. That gives you 4 starters and a closer. I would not pay for an elite starter. Maybe save some money and go for a tier two starter like Nolasco, Johnson, Hanson etc. or maybe even Dempster. Then add middle relievers for your other spots. Try to get a couple closer in waiting guys. If you can get 40 saves from Wilson and 10 from one of your MR you will be in good shape.
The reason that I wouldn’t spend too much on pitching is that you need to spend some dollars on hitting. You have some decent hitters but there are many elite hitters in the NL this year and you only have one of them.
Yo should I draft Pujols or Ramirez.
I have a live draft this Weesday. Can you
give me your aviceo on ho I should pick
players in the draft.
You should draft Pujols if you have the first pick. With your second/third picks choose a player who can contribute some steals – maybe someone like Sizemore or Phillips.
Hey it’s me again I wannted to know when
should I draft a pitcher and what pitcher
should I draft… Could you give me your
top ten picks for me in the draft talk to you later.
Hi Peter, I am moving your question to our forums. That is a better place for these types of questions. Go to the forums and search “Peter’s Pitchers” under general baseball topics.
