The Phillies in the last three days have put three important players on the DL. The one surprise was Joe Blanton who will be out 3-6 weeks with an oblique strain. He was injured during a bullpen session. Kyle Kendrick will replace him in the rotation.
Brad Lidge ( elbow) and J. C. Romero were both put on the 15-day DL. Romero is closer to returning and expect him back in the second week. Lidge is more of a concern. His velocity has been down and he was given a cortisone shot in his elbow on Tuesday. This could have longterm consequences. Ryan Madson will assume the closer role .
